Since turning five, Lexi has made me aware of the following:- She is too old to watch Sponge Bob Square Pants
- She has never been five before
- Noggin is too little for five year olds
- You have to be responsible to be five
- She is too old for a sippy cup
- Peter Pan is just right for a five year old
- Birthdays are a good celebration :)
The first words out of Lexi's mouth this morning were "Are my birthday flags outside?". We have at tradition of flying a birthday flag at our mailbox and front door. It makes the day extra special, and everyone knows there's a special celebration at our house :)
Her second question was, "Can I see my cake now" :) We picked up Lexi's cake last night after our trip to Acadia. She knew it was in the fridge, but wanted to be surprised 'on my birthday' :)
We brought two trays of mini cupcakes to school for a treat to celebrate with her class. When we arrived, 'K' her teacher was waiting for her in his office. He wanted her to know that he wouldn't be in school today - because he wasn't feeling well - but he came in to make her her special balloon animal (a pink poodle) and wish her a happy birthday :) He went the extra mile to make her birthday special. Lexi had her cupcakes, and was the calendar captain too.
Cate and I decorated the house for dinner. After picking up Daddy from work, we ate dinner (Lexi had her stuffed shells on the special Red Plate :) ) , we ate cake (YUMMY!) and opened presents. Lexi talked to Auntie Angie and Grandma and Grandpa Mattson and told them about her day - the highlight was ripping open the paper of her presents - in the past, she has been very mindful of removing the tape - apparently, you no longer have to do that when you're five :)
