After starting the tear out at 12:30 - we had the last of the floor and staples up by 3:15. We pulled HUNDREDS of nails and staples out of the floor after removing the subfloor. The flooring on one side of the kitchen is in great shape. The other side, not so good. It appears that at one time, there was a wall dividing the kitchen in half. The side with the stove, sink etc, appears to have had tile or something that had been adhered to with glue - so we have some scraping to do before we paint. Thankfully that tile or whatever it was, was removed, but the glue residue is still in spots. It was interesting to uncover a little bit of 'history' seeing the division of the two rooms. We're off to Home Depot to pick up the paint.
