A fun holiday weekend!

This has been a fun family weekend. On Saturday, we went to the annual Easter Easter egg hunt in our old town Orono. There were 20 foot snow piles in the parking lot - and still a good 3 to 4 inches of snow on the playground, but there they were, dozens of good hearty Mainer kids ready to hit the playground and find their stash. Normally, the competition is STIFF - but this year, with the snow, the numbers weren't quite as high as normal. BUT - hundreds of plastic eggs decorated the snow - and it seems like it was over as soon as it started! :) Lexi was all business this year. Cate however, carried on in true Thyen tradition and headed straight for the swings! - just like big sister Lexi at her first egg hunt. After the hunt, everyone is invited inside the elementary school for a raffle and other fun activities (face painting, balloon animals, etc). Cate was IN LOVE with the 'Easter Bunny'. As Lexi and I were waiting in line for the ever popular balloon animals (the line was LONG!) - we heard the announcer call out Lexi's number - the second time Lexi has won in her short four years!!! Lexi and I made our way to the front of the gym, and she received a very cool Easter basket, complete with stuffed bunny and other goodies :) - I'm not sure if she was more excited about the prize or the applause :). The funniest though, was the winner of the 'grand prize' - a full size child's bike, was a 4 month old baby :).
This morning, I got up early to get our ham in the oven, and hide some goodies outside for the girls. Lexi was surprised that the Easter bunny made it out last night - because it was COLD and we still have loads of snow - but Jay told her he had a sled to carry his goodies :). Once again, Lexi was all business - and Cate headed for the playhouse :)

We'll be off to church soon - and then home to enjoy a nice dinner and a quiet afternoon.
